Much to the surprise of nobody, Arrogate remained in the pole position for the NTRA Top-10 released July 10th, 2017. The four-year-old champion received 41 of a possible 41 first-place votes to stay entrenched exactly where he belongs. His current schedule includes a run in the 2017 San Diego Handicap before the Pacific Classic, and then it’s full systems go towards a repeat in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Gun Runner remained in second place and is next expected for the 2017 Whitney Handicap where he is sure to face off against some of the elite competition from around the country. It’s been a solid turnaround for the four-year-old who still holds a 2017 Stephen Foster Handicap win in his hat after an admirable second place finish in the Dubai World Cup behind you-know-who (it’s Arrogate).
Songbird remains in third, while Mor Spirit and Stellar Wind were bumped up to fourth and fifth thanks to some big wins over the weekend.
Mind Your Biscuits moves from ninth to sixth int he recent rendition of the NTRA Top-10 thanks to a masterful run in the 2017 Belmont Sprint, where he upset the 2/1 favorite Unified as a 7/5 outside shot. He has now booked a berth in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Sprint presented by TwinSpires.com.
Keen Ice also cracks the NTRA Top-10 in the final spot after upsetting Shaman Ghost, who was the 1/2 landslide favorite in the 2017 Suburban Handicap. It may be a reach to slide Keen Ice that far up the scale, especially considering that this was his first win since the 2015 Travers Stakes nearly two years ago. Shaman Ghost went from fourth to seventh, which is a significant drop.
Lady Eli was eighth and Lady Aurelia was ninth in the latest NTRA Top-10, each slipping one spot each. Much of that is simply due to inactivity.
